Central Foundation Finishes 2nd in Hockey State Schools Cup

Central Foundation competed in the Hockey State Schools Cup (7-a-side) and delivered an outstanding performance to finish 2nd overall.

The boys started strongly with a 2–0 win against Northwood, with goals from Alex and Timo, before Timo secured a 1–0 win in Game 2. A convincing performance followed against Graveney, with Timo, Jadyn and Alex all scoring.

A hard-fought 1–1 draw against eventual winners Kingsdale showed the team’s resilience, before a 2–0 win (goals from Asa and Alex) kept title hopes alive.

Going into the final game needing a win, CFBS dominated but were caught by a breakaway goal and couldn’t convert their chances, finishing a superb 2nd place.

Rory and Amir impressed in goal with key saves, while Isaac, Thomas, Etienne, Xavier and Tom all showed great promise on debut. Jackson also stood out with an impressive all-round performance.

A special mention goes to Zed, who not only managed and umpired throughout, but also supported the team with equipment.

CFBS also played an 11-a-side fixture against Merchant Taylors’ School, where Zed scored all three goals in a 3–1 victory, securing another win for the school.

A fantastic start for CFBS hockey, with plenty to look forward to as the programme grows. 🏑👏
