On Wednesday 14th January, our athletes recently travelled to compete in the prestigious Indoor Simmonds Cup, one of the most competitive fixtures on the London school sports calendar. Facing off against many of the top schools in the capital, the Central Foundation Boys’ School team delivered a series of powerhouse performances across track and field.
A Relay to Remember
The highlight of the meet was undoubtedly the Year 9 Boys 4 x 200m Relay. In a display of flawless baton changes and raw speed, the team—consisting of Maleek, Zain, Prince-Deo, and Anthony —stormed to a 1st place finish, clinching a hard-fought victory for the school.
Record-Breaking Speed
The 60m sprint saw two long-standing school benchmarks fall. Our sprinters proved they are among the fastest in Central Foundation history:
- Prince-Deo: Set a new School Record for Year 9 in the 60m.
- Zac: Set a new School Record for Year 10 in the 60m.
Individual Podium Finishes
The depth of talent was evident across all age groups and disciplines, with several students securing 2nd place finishes against elite competition:
The Simmonds Cup is a comprehensive test of an athletics department, featuring a wide range of events including the 60m, 200m, 400m, 800m, High Jump, Long Jump, Triple Jump, and Shot Put. To come away with multiple medals and two school records is a testament to the hard work the boys have been putting into their training.
Congratulations to all the athletes who competed!
