Careers Assemblies

The start of summer term was full of fantastic opportunities for our students to learn about a wide range of career sectors available to them in the future.

Our Year 7s had an exciting morning with Arsenal in the Community, who showed the students that whether you are on the pitch or off, there is a career for everyone if you are passionate about football.

Our Year 8s learned how what they are studying in English, Drama and Music in school could link to future learning and professional pathways. The London Screen Academy visited us to show our students different vocational courses available at post-16 if they are passionate about drama and film, and school partner DEPT joined us to show how the skills students learn through studying English at school could help them in the digital marketing sector.

Our Year 9 students had the great chance to hear from GOSH about the various vocational and apprenticeship routes into healthcare, both in patient care and administration. These routes can offer young people a fantastic opportunity to continually grown both personally and professionally in a sector they are passionate about, and GOSH were able to show that there is a role for everyone in the NHS if you are passionate about caring for people.

Our Year 10s learned about the wealth of professional opportunities available in the built environment sector when Bovis joined us. They were able to highlight the expected labour market growth within construction and the built environment in the coming years, and the range of professional opportunities that are available. They were also able to show the progression available to students who look to enter the sector through the vocational and apprenticeship routes. They also heard about the apprenticeship routes into finance from Barclays, who showed them the various professional roles that are available to students who are ready to get straight into work.

Our Year 12s have started their post-18 pathway journey, hearing from the University of East Anglia in May about how to approach their university research. UEA provided some great insight into how students should approach the research, and encouraging them to be thorough so that they are choosing the best course for their future studies. We also ended the half term with an assembly dedicated to launching UCAS, delivered by our Central Futures Coordinator, Ms Browne, ensuring students have all of the tools they need to continue this work.
