On Thursday 17th September, a group of Year 11 students took part in the annual Leadership Conference organised by the Dulwich Schools Trust. Hosted at the beautiful Dulwich Picture Gallery, the conference brought together students from across the Trust for a day focused on developing leadership skills and reflecting on what it means to be an effective student leader.
Students took part in a seminar led by Jordan Lewis from Alleyn’s School, exploring a range of practical leadership strategies. This included developing active listening skills, discussing scenarios they may encounter in student leadership roles, and reflecting on the core values and qualities that underpin effective leadership.
The day concluded with a fascinating tour of the Dulwich Picture Gallery, led by one of the gallery’s curators. Students had the opportunity to explore the latest exhibition on US twentieth-century photography and learn more about the works on display.
Our students represented the school brilliantly throughout the day. Working alongside sixth form students from other schools, they contributed thoughtfully to discussions and reflected maturely on their own leadership experiences. They returned to school with renewed enthusiasm and confidence in their roles, as well as a strong desire to put their new skills into practice and share their learning with others.
A huge thank you to the Dulwich Schools Trust for inviting our students to such an engaging and valuable event. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to develop their leadership skills, broaden their perspectives and learn alongside students from across the Trust.
