Over the past two months, our Y10 Drama GCSE cohort have been taking part in the Almeida Unlocked experience.
Almeida Unlocked is a programme collaborating with artists from our local theatre, The Almeida, based off Upper Street in Islington. Our Y10 students took part in four in school workshops collaborating to develop performance and devising skills which are essential for their GCSE drama. They created a 10-minute rapid response devised piece; their stimulus was “sleep.”
This all cumulated with the final technical and dress rehearsals on Friday 13th March and a live public performance on the Almeida stage. The audience consisted of parents, other local school students and Almeida cast members. Our students performed a moving and funny performance showcasing their talent and engagement with Drama. It was a truly inspiring experience for our students and the teachers that got to watch this performance. Our students rose to the challenge of being professional actors performing on a London stage together.
