Access Project Year 11 Mentoring

The Year 11 mentoring provision at our school is part of the Access Project’s University Readiness Mentoring, designed to equip students with the essential revision and study skills needed for success in their GCSE exams. Delivered by the University Access Officer, these one-to-one sessions support the 20 students enrolled on the Access Project, providing personalised guidance on effective revision techniques, time management, and independent learning strategies. This ensures students develop the habits necessary to achieve their target grades.

A key focus of the programme is helping students understand the importance of their GCSE results, not only for their sixth form applications but also for future university opportunities. Mentoring supports students in making well-informed A-level choices, preparing strong sixth form applications, and setting long-term academic goals. Beyond academics, the programme fosters confidence, motivation, and resilience, helping students manage exam pressures while staying focused on their aspirations. By fostering both academic and personal growth, this provision empowers students to reach their full potential and aspire towards top universities and ambitious career goals.

Each year, a total of 80 students take part in the programme (20 students each from Year 10, 11, 12 and 13).
