On Tuesday 22nd November, our Year 12 A level Law class had a special virtual guest dial in from Vienna this week, to talk to Central Foundation Boys’ and Girls’ School about her career in the law.
Justice Renate Winter is a Judge to the Special Court for Sierra Leone, and has had a rich and diverse career specialising in family law, juvenile justice systems, women’s justice issues and child labour. She was a Consultant for the UN Centre For the International Crim Prevention at the United Nations, was an International Judge with the United Nations Mission in Kosovo, and sat as President of the Special Court for Sierra Leone from 2008 to 2010.
Justice Winter shared some of her experiences as a judge, the importance of the role of a judge within society, and her thoughts on some of the key issues she feels face the global world today. Many thanks to Justice Winter for setting aside time to speak to our Law students.
