Year 9 Enterprise Day

July 20th, 2011

Enterprise Day

Last Tuesday and Wednesday were big days on the school calendar – the Year 9 Enterprise Days. This year business students worked as companies producing, packaging and marketing banana cakes.

Throughout the two days the companies collected investment money for good work. As part of the challenge each of the 15 companies had to produce a website and advert promoting their banana cake and brand. At the end of the two days they had to present to venture capitalists to persuade them to invest money in their business.

The students presented to several major organisations including:

  • Organisation
  • Henderson Global
  • Hogan Lovells
  • Electrodoc Virtual Administration Solutions and Business Support
  • Amey
  • Senior Principle Trading Standards Officer LBI
  • Deputy CEO Islington Council
  • CEO Islington Chamber of Commerce
  • Barbers Livery Company
  • Common Purpose
  • Engineering UK
  • Kier
  • Recruitment Consultant
  • DMW Group
  • No Name Design Ltd
  • Business in the Community
  • Bank of America

The winning company with the most investment funds at the end of the two days gained capital to help launch their idea.

There was a winner from each form and an overall winner who had gained the most money in total.

The overall winner this year was Banana Cobana (9G). Watch their advert.

The winners of each form were:

  • 9B: Horizon
  • 9P: Yellow Bakery
  • 9Y: First Class
  • 9R: Banana  Blast

Thank you to everyone who took part. We hope the students enjoyed the opportunity to work together and gain some valuable business planning, research, marketing, branding, and packaging and website design skills.
