As part of the school’s dedication to encouraging ambition in our pupils, a group of Year 8 students recently visited Oxford University.

Twelve pupils from Year 8 journeyed to Wadham College, Oxford on Monday 19th October with Mr Beach and Ms Bagot. The visit launched the Scholar’s Programme at Central Foundation Boys’ School, which will see the pupils tutored by an Oxford PhD student. The programme is organised by The Brilliant Club, a non-profit organisation that exists to widen access to top universities for  pupils from non-selective state schools.

As well as being tutored by a PhD student from Oxford, the pupils will be coached in writing a university-style dissertation at the end of the six week course to improve their discursive skills, as well as to encourage them to think analytically and from different perspectives.
