Year 7 Zoo Trip

July 29th, 2011

Whipsnade Zoo

On the 15th July Year 7 were taken on a trip to ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, one of Europe’s largest wildlife conservation parks. The zoo is home to more than 2,500 animals, many of which are endangered in the wild.

This annual trip gives the students the opportunity to experience science outside the school environment. The aim of the visit was for the students to look at living things and see how they interact with each other and their environment. The students enjoyed the zoo’s vast range of exhibits including: the elephants, zebras, penguins, cheetahs, lemurs, lions and the discovery centre’s many exotic species.

The zoo is set in 600 acres of beautiful parkland on the Chiltern Hills. The location the group stopped to eat lunch allowed for the best possible view of the Chiltern Hills, enabling the students to fully enjoy the zoo’s breath-taking surroundings. Everyone had a relaxing and educational day escaping the city to the great outdoors of Whipsnade Zoo. Thank you to all the staff who helped out and Mr Gricia for organising the day.
