In the first set of results to include the new, reformed GCSEs in all subjects, Central Foundation Boys’ School students are celebrating their excellent exam outcomes.

The School is very proud of the achievement of all of the students in the GCSEs.  The students scored a record number of top grades, with 33% of all grades being at grades 7 to 9.  In addition, 63% of students achieved a grade 5 or better in both English and Maths.

In English Language and Literature, 89% of the students achieved a grade 4 or above with 31% achieving grade 7, 8 or 9.  In Maths, 82% of the students achieved a grade 4 or above with 36% of the whole cohort achieving grade 7, 8 or 9.   Science continued to perform strongly with 82% of students achieving at least a grade 4 and 41% achieving a grade 7, 8 or 9. This exceptional student performance continued across the breadth of the curriculum with EBacc subjects performing particularly well including Computing (100% at 4-9), French (100%), Spanish (100%) and Geography (84%). ICT results were once again outstanding with grades 4-9 at 100%. The creative faculty was well represented with Art (89%), Drama (90%) and Music (94%) all scoring very well.

Headteacher Jamie Brownhill said, “The new reformed GCSEs have presented many new challenges for both students and teachers and they are all to be congratulated for the results they have achieved.  We wish all of our students well as they move onto the next stage of their education.”
