School Opening Friday 20th March

The school is running for all Year groups tomorrow, Friday 20th March.  The school will shut at lunch time to allow time for staff to finalise the home learning for the students.

I would repeat the requirement that:-

  • Any student who has a persistent cough or fever should not be in school, and should be self-isolating for 7 days.
  • If anyone in the household has a new persistent cough or fever, the student should not be in school and should be self-isolating for 14 days.
  • Any student who has a medical condition that makes them more susceptible to COVID-19  they should not be in school and should be self-isolating for 12 weeks.

School Closure

In line with government guidance, the school will be shut to students from Monday 23rd March, with the exception of two groups of students:-

  • Those students who we consider particularly need the support of being in school – we will be contacting these families tomorrow to inform them that they will be able to attend school.
  • Those students whose parents are ‘Key Workers’.   We have not received a definition of this from the government, but at the moment we presume this to include those working within health care, the police, the fire service, social care and those working within essential supply chains, such as supermarkets and medical supplies.  We would ask you to contact the school via e-mail at info@cfbs.islington.sch.uk or phone on 02072533741 tomorrow to confirm that your son will be attending school from Monday.

Home Learning

A programme of home learning for our students who are not in school will start from Monday.  We will provide further information in respect of this tomorrow.

School Meals

We are exploring an approach in respect of continuing to provide school meals for all those students who receive free school meals.

GCSE, A level and BTEC exams

All we know at the moment is that the government has confirmed that these exams have been cancelled but that students will still get their qualifications.  As soon as further information is provided in respect of this I will write further.

I will provide more information on all of the above matters as and when I have it.  My thoughts and best wishes are with all of our students and their families at this time.
