Earlier on this year Young Writers, a UK company which encourages children in creative writing, ran a poetry competition called The Poetry Games. The competition, open to schoolchildren aged between 11-18 was open across the nation and a number of Central Foundation Boys’ School pupils entered.

Now the competition has closed, Young Writers has contacted the school to let us know that six boys were winners in the competition, judged on perception, imagination, expression and good use of language. By winning the competition André Deen-Swaray, Anas Abdulle, Saeed Hersi, Salaahuddeen Smith, Salman Filli and Serhat Gunes will all have their poems put into publication. A preview edition of The Poetry Games: London Voices will be available in the school’s library before it’s made available for sale on general release in the summer.
