Slaughter & May tutors advising students on how to write their personal statement

In the third week of September, Year 13 finalised their applications to university with the first Central Futures tutorial of the year.

Central Futures, the school’s team which is dedicated to securing a pathway for all pupils after they leave the school, held its first tutorial session of the year last Wednesday. The session reunited the Year 13s with their tutors from Slaughter & May, a leading international law firm which works in a partnership with the School and the Access Project charity.

In June, tutors were assigned to each of the pupils to help them write their UCAS personal statements and to offer guidance for university applications through weekly sessions in June, July and over the summer. There will be two more sessions held before students submit their applications. Although the UCAS application deadline is in January, Central Futures team ensures all pupils have applied by October so that they can spend the rest of the year focussing on their studies.

In 2017, 82% of Central Foundation Year 13 students went on to university with 65% securing a place at the most selective universities in the country.
