The squad stand arm in arm watching the penalty shoot out

Last Thursday the Year 8 football team took part in a seven-a-side tournament with local Islington schools.

The cup started with a round-robin group stage. Central Foundation Boys’ School came top of their group, with goals being scored by captain Alfie Lusardi, Josh Asiamah and Pedro Dias.

With the winners and runners-up from each group going forward, Year 8 then faced Bridge Academy in the semi-final and won to put them into the final, having not conceded a goal throughout the tournament so far.

Freddy Akguc’s clean sheet continued to the end of the tournament, as the final match ended nil-nil leading to a tense penalty shootout. As the picture above shows, tensions ran high during the penalties and unfortunately Central Foundation ended up on the losing side. But by winning all but their final game, let alone not conceding a goal throughout the entire tournament, Year 8′s football team left the cup as proud runners-up.
