Open Evening

October 2nd, 2014

On Thursday 25th September, the school opened its doors to the public for our first Open Event of the year.

Around 400 prospective parents and students joined us for an evening to see the school and have a taste of our outstanding educational provision. Parents were taken on tours guided by Year 11 pupils who gave each group their own personal insight into life at the school while showing the roofed Astroturf for PE, the 3D printer in technology and the two-time national finalist debating team.

The Technology Department's 3D printer proved very popular with visiting children

After seeing these facilities, as well as hearing about Central Foundation Sixth Form and the Central Futures team, a designated group of professionals who work towards placing every 18 year old who leaves here in high quality training or employment, all of the guests were welcomed into the school hall for the final part of the evening.

Firstly they heard from two pupils – Freddy in Year 8 who has just completed his transition into secondary school and completed his first year, and Burkan in Year 11 who has experienced the whole school journey. Mr Brownhill, the Headteacher, then laid out his vision for the school and talked about the school achievements.

The evening ended with a performance by the school choir

Finally, the visitors were treated to a performance of chamber music from a Year 11 quartet before the school choir gave a rousing rendition of At The End of the Day from Les Misérables, ahead of their performance of Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man at the Royal Albert Hall this Sunday.

If you couldn’t attend last night’s open evening, we would like to remind you that you are welcome to our Open Mornings on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd October at 9:30 until 10:30 and then on subsequent Wednesdays (8th, 15th and 22nd) at 9:30.
