The Athletics Team celebrate with their trophy and medals

For the second year running, Central Foundation Boys’ School have won the Islington Athletics Championship.

In a competition that also included Holloway, IAMS, St Aloysius, Highbury Fields, EGA and Mount Carmel, Central Foundation Boys’ School led the way to keep the trophy for another year.

An expanded competition saw 52 events, up from last year’s 46 thanks to the addition of the hurdles and triple jump. Competition was much sterner than last year, when Central Foundation won every event in at least one year group.

The most outstanding year was Year 10, who came first in the long jump, triple jump, high jump, javelin and the 100m, 200m, 800m and 4x100m relay race.

With a high level of competition at Sports Day and continuing success across Islington, Central Foundation’s dedication to sports from the curriculum, to after-school clubs to guest workshops in a variety of sports is paying dividends. We advise all parents and pupils to keep an eye out for the extra-curricular timetable in September to see which new and returning sports clubs will be available in the next academic year.
