Scrooge being visited by the ghosts of the past

On the Tuesday before the winter holiday, Central Foundation presented a drama evening with a mixture of performances from all Years.

The first half of the show was an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic A Christmas Carol which saw Gabriel Rogers-Mullen play the lead of Ebeneezer Scrooge. The play was performed by members of the drama club, which meets every Tuesday after school and is led by Ms Dawson. Other pupils played the parts of the three ghosts and Scrooge’s family as he is made to reconsider his selfishness and become more generous.

After an interval, Year 10s performed a series of monologues. As part of the GCSE coursework, they have each written their own monologue on a subject of their choosing and had to decide how best to perform it. The series of soliloquies were framed within a narrative where a group of boys were telling each other stories to distract themselves from Christmas excitement.
