Young Consumer of the Year Award

On the 9th of February Central Foundation won the Islington Young Consumer of the Year competition at the Emirates Stadium, beating teams from St Aloysius and Mount Carmel to retain the trophy which the school has won 4 times in the last 6 years.

In an electrifying final, the boys Ilias Belhaddad, Khalid Muruz, Malik Yansaneh, Govinda Deb and Mert Topuz, romped to victory by answering questions on law, current affairs and business.

The Young Consumer of the Year Challenge is organised by the Trading Standards Institute and supported nationally by a number of high profile sponsors. The local competition involves Islington schools competing against each other, testing the students on a wide range of issues.

Television’s Paul Whitehouse chaired the event and spent time with the excited winners afterwards.  They now go through to represent Islington in the London Finals at the O2 Arena in March. Another team from Central Foundation made it to the semi-finals: Saeef Ahmed, Ridwan Chowdhury, Nahid Uddin and Tommy Collins.

Well done everyone!
