Bunbury Cricket Club

June 28th, 2012

Earlier in the year Dr. David English CBE, MBE, OSCA, The Bunbury Founder and Vice President of the English Schools’ Cricket Association visited  Central Foundation boys’ School.

Over the years, David English’s English Schools Cricket Association has helped discover and nurture many talented cricketers.

On behalf of this association, our School Cricket Team was delighted to receive a box filled with new cricket apparel  from full whites and nets to bats, pads and balls.

The Cricket Team have since been honing their skills, training and preparing for games throughout the summer term.

Perhaps this is why it has come as no surprise that there has been victory all round for the Cricket Teams at Central Foundation.

This month the Under 14s beat Stoke Newington scoring 126-6 – 67-5. Man of the match was clearly Abdi Buwe for taking 2 wickets with a run rate of 1.5 per over.

In addition, the Year 10 Team beat Mossbourne scoring 130-4 – 38 all out. Mateen Abbas  took 4 wickets with a run rate of 2 per over.

Sufian Miah, Year 9 Scored 54 not out for the Under 14s and scored 30 not out for the Under 15ss, leading them to yet another fantastic win.

“When we opened the box of cricket kit we were all overwhelmed. We are looking forward to wearing the full whites and looking like a proper Cricket Team.”

From a letter to Dr. English from Sufian Miah, Year 9
