Olympic Workout

The school’s cricket team were joined in July by British Olympian Jeanette Kwakye. The British 100m record holder worked with the team on exercises which required them to think about strategy and advantage, as well as fitness. She also talked to them about being the only British woman in 30 years to make it to the 100m final at Beijing 2008 and how she kept herself motivated when her dreams of performing on home soil for London 2012 were ended by injury.

Afterwards, Kwakye played cricket with the team and was quick to find out her running between the wickets was strong but her technique with the bat didn’t stand up to their testing bowling.
