The Year 7 squad after winning the Inner London Cup

The Year 7 football team have concluded an unparalleled season be securing The Treble after they beat Kingsdale 3-0 in the final of the Inner London Cup on 19 May. The team went into the final having already won the Hackney & Tower Hamlets League and the Islington & Camden Cup without losing a game.

The first half of the final set the tone for the game, with Central Foundation scoring in regular ten minute intervals. Marley scored in the 12th and 32nd minute while Billy’s goal came in between during the 21st minute.

There was drama at the start of the second half when Kingsdale were awarded a penalty but Marwan saved it, ensuring a clean sheet for the game. This was his 13th clean sheet this season. The rest of the game passed without incident as Year 7 controlled their three goal lead to secure the game, the cup and The Treble.

The team reached the final after getting off to a slow start with an uncharacteristically low-scoring 1-0 win against City of London. After this the strikers became much more prolific, beating Cardinal Pole 4-2 and George Green 4-0. The quarter final saw them concede the most goals in the season as they beat Havistock 8-3 which sent them into a match against Highbury Grove which was both the semi-final of the Inner London Cup and the quarter final of the Islington and Camden Cup which they won 9-1.

After a tremendous season, The Invincibles squad have totalled 23 wins in 23 games, scoring 170 goals (at an average of 7 goals per game) and conceding only 17.

The Year 7 'invincibles' after winning their second trophy of the season, with their coach Mr Russell

The Year 7 football team have continued their undefeated streak from the league into knockout tournaments by winning the Islington and Camden Cup.

The Year 7s secured the Hackney and Tower Hamlets Saturday League in March by winning all 13 matches, scoring 80 goals throughout the season and conceding only 10.

In late April they captured the Double by also winning the Islington and Camden Cup in a similarly dominant fashion. Throughout the tournament they scored 31 times while only conceding two goals. They achieved their highest margin of victory in the semi-final against William Ellis by winning 9-0. The team almost replicated this dominance in the final on 25 April when they defeated Havistock 8-0, which included a hat trick from Jordan, to win the cup.

This is the third successive year that the school has won the Islington and Camden Cup, having been won by the Year 8 team last year and the Year 7 team the year before that.
