Pupils from Years 8-11 at the top of the Silvretta Alps

During the half term, over 40 pupils were taken to Austria to spend the week in the Alps skiing.

The annual Ski Club trip took place in the middle of February, with staff and pupils departing the school on the Friday night after school broke up for the half term holidays. They travelled through the night by coach and ferry to Austria, arriving in the Silvretta section of the Alps mountain range by midday Saturday.

During the week away, the pupils were split into beginner, intermediate and advanced groups so that their activities could match the skill level. While they spent the days skiing, in the evening the hotel offered other activities such as football to keep them occupied.

After just under a week in Austria, the group departed on Friday to make it home in time for Saturday evening.

More images and videos from the trip are available on the PE Department’s Twitter account, twitter.com/CFBSPE.

The Year 7 squad after they sealed the league against Haggerston, with their manager Mr Russell

The Year 7 football team capped off a tremendous debut season by winning the Hackney and Tower Hamlets League without losing or drawing a single game.

The boys confirmed their league title on 4 March with a 8-0 win over Haggerston. Having already lifted the trophy, they remained unbeaten for the rest of the season. Their final game saw the team celebrate in a clinical fashion that had become typical of the season, scoring five goals without conceding, against Burlington Danes School on 18 March.

Since September, the team have managed to score 80 goals throughout the campaign of 13 games. Thanks to superb goalkeeping from Marwan, the team only conceded 10 goals through the season. They closed the season six successive clean sheets, alongside one match earlier in the season.

The top scorer was Marley who managed 21 goals, followed closely by Jordan whose tally was 19. The highest scoring matches of the season were two 13-0 victories over Skinners Academy and Bethnal Green Academy.
