The evening was a mixture of scripted and devised pieces

The Drama Society ended the year with their Winter Showcase, presenting a mixture of dramatic and comedic scenes they had been working on throughout this term.

The evening began with an energetic ensemble piece taken from the well-known play, Blood Brothers by Willy Russell. It was performed by the entire cast who transformed into a group of seven year olds, desperate to be eight, just like their big brother. Students used a mixture of drama techniques and skills such as physical theatre and choral speaking to bring the performance to life with vigour.

As the evening progressed a number of scenes and monologues were performed ranging from serious, dramatic works, to light-hearted and classic pieces. The students performed with confidence and maturity, dealing with various genres and subject areas, creating interesting and believable characters.

The evening ended with a 20 minute dance interpretation of Shakespeare's Macbeth

The evening culminated in a 20 minute physical theatre and contemporary dance piece entitled, Sleep No More that was based on the story of Macbeth. The boys performed as an ensemble using symbolism, lifts and movement in unison among other skills. The professionally executed finale displayed their tireless work and dedication.

Drama Society takes place every Wednesday after school and is available to all Year groups. It is one of over 40 before and after school clubs the School runs, the full list of which can be found here.
